Glad to hear you are going to update the site Jim.
My mother seems to come from a different Carey line but I like to keep informed you never know when branches may meet.

Well I think it’s time for me to start this all going again, I have rested enough!

From a personal point of view a number of things have happened to me/us.

    1. Have started learning Ukulele – to the dismay of the family. Now as the UKE is generally a rhythm instrument backing singing, and as I can’t sing – then you can understand their dismay

    2. We took a trip back to Australia to visit family – had a great time – I will post some pics soon.

    3. I joined UKIP Congleton branch and will become active, I hope, in what is I believe the right way forward for politics in the UK – more soon.

    4. I have received some emails from people regarding the family tree – I will start to respond to those again very soon

    5. I may find a job to stop me sitting around getting fatter. But nothing like before and not in computing – although some sort of home business that I can run over the internet would be nice – any ideas anyone?

    That’s a start – will add to this regularly I hope :-)

    ciao

    Jim

    Apologies

    Hi,
sorry but the carey site was the target of a recent attack. We believe we have cleared all the malware – but if anyone gets any notification of malware would they let me know where abouts in the site this was ?

    cheers

    Solar Power

Well Chris showed the way by installing solar power panels and now, not to be outdone, we solar deprived Pom’s in Congleton are also going ahead with solar panels. Just agreed a price with a company and hopefully in the not too distant future we will also have a solar bank on the roof :-)

    • Jim 4:29 pm on February 2, 2011 Reply

well – early Feb we get a shiny roof – hope it translates to a lower Utility bill :-)

    • Jim 9:10 am on April 5, 2011 Reply

well we have had a month or more of the Solar panels. Along with a more conscious attitude to saving the juice the usage is definitely going down and hopefully is translating to lower bills :-)

Finding it hard at the moment to get back into the research for the Family Tree. It just seems so difficult to go back that next step before John Carey of Backwell. Have found someone who may be the business but so far cant prove the link – ah well – will keep trying

Hi Jim, yes frustrating isn’t it ?!! Do you have anything to go on at all ? I could try and do something from this end if possible. Have you ever visited Somerset by the way ? Jo

      • Jim 6:29 pm on February 5, 2011 Reply

just realised I didnt reply to this – will try to search out any half leads I had and pass them on. I have passed through Somerset but not sent any time there – but intend to over the next couple of years with my caravan :-)

The big problem is that the rats ate a lot of the records in Backwell and also the records were written over in all directions – so hard to track.

    • joanne 9:38 pm on February 6, 2011 Reply

Darn rats….so inconsiderate ;-) If you do find anything if you want to let me know, I’ll try and get down that way again once the weather improves. Must try and meet up when you visit Jim, would be nice to meet up with more of the family :-) My cousin is hopefully visiting in March so will have a good chat with her and see if we can find out anything new.

    Hi Jim,
Have just been looking at the family tree. My branch is as follows…my great grandparents were Alfred and Selina Carey…I notice from your records that you have their marriage date as 12.10 1899 but I have a copy of their marriage cert. showing 1889. I think he may have been married before possibly to Ida Elizabeth (looking at your dates) I seem to remember my Dad saying something about another marriage. The first child born that I have a record of is Amelia so I am now wondering if she had a twin Millicent !! Will try and find out a bit more about this. Alfred and Selina’s son Albert was my grandfather….he married Lillian Smith in 1914…they had 4 children…one daughter and 3 sons, one of whom was my dad.

Getting to milestones has its benefits … off to Norfolk Island in mid January for a week … car, accommodation, flight all gifted by family. Thanks guys. Would you believe that although Norfolk Island is part of Australia you need a passport to go there. Go figure!

That is excellent – what a great gift – or are they just trying to get rid of you :-) Do they know that needing the passport is just a precursor to declaring independence and you will be trapped there as part of a population boosting measure to feed the senior arm of their army.
